We are currently putting together a brand new alt.binaries search engine.
We believe our website is the strongest alt.binaries header archive there is
and we would like to hear from you about it.
What do you like, dislike? What improvement could be made?
Carl I think you should blow it out your ass. I dont want a damn
thing I put on usenet on any website, so to improve it you need to
recycle that thought and start a newserver if you wanna archive
headers.
You _asked_ for an opinion, googlemeister.
Couldn't agree more. The fucking RIAA would love yet another 'One
Stop Shop' to find what's being posted where.
. If it is a fee based service, then it won't be any different than
what Easynews has done with their global search function.
You're assuming the RIAA etc are aware of the Easynews search function
- or more to the point - were *not* aware of it, until now.
I think the RIAA, MPAA, etc are aware of Easynew's search engine and
web interface. Certainly, Suze Randall and APIC (Association for the
Protection of Internet Copyright) are aware of it, or else Godzilla
would not have removed the Suze Groups from the web based interface.
Post by Far CanalPost by dysfirkinIs this something you intend to resell to various NSPs since it really
is a very clean interface and something that could benefit many
surfers, particualry those new to usenet.
On the other hand, if you intend to make it free to use in an
advertising supported model, then I would object to it. Enhancing
usenet's popularity with a free search engine for the Kazaa kiddies
will attract unwanted attention from the authorities.
How's the crack of your arse? Sitting on that fence must be giving it
gyp.
Fence sitting hardly. It depends on their business model. A binary
news site that just archives headers is bad for usenet as we both
agree, while a web based search engine used by a NSP would not be
harmful. I can't tell which business model they intend to follow,
since the website does not provide any information except listing
mybinaries.com as a sponsor. I think mybinaries.com is part of the
NNTPserver family, so this could be a front end for those newservers.
